Red House Soapberries - Soapberry Shells
Red House Soapberries - Soapberry Shells 1kg
Soapberries (also known as soap nuts) are a 100% natural alternative to laundry detergents and fabric softeners.
Soap nuts contain saponin, a natural detergent. The soap nut shell absorbs water and releases the saponin which circulates as a natural surfactant in the wash water, freeing dirt and grime from laundry. They are low sudsing, so they are great for both front loader and top loader washing machines and they don’t leave a residue.
They’re hypo-allergenic which makes them perfect for people with allergies or sensitive skin and once you’ve used them up they can be composted for a no-waste solution. They’re grey water and septic tank safe.
You can also use them to make a multi-purpose household cleaning liquid by boiling them for 15 minutes.
Just add five soapberries to the small muslin bag (which comes in the pack) and throw it in the machine. In cold water the small wash bag will last approximately five loads, in warmer water, 3-4 loads can be done from the one small wash bag, as the higher temperature draws more saponin out of the shell.
That Red House Organic Soapberries are harvested from wild trees in the Himalayan mountains of Nepal and are certified organic by international certification body Ecocert and USDA.
